Catalpa sphinx, I think
Ceratomia catalpae. See Caterpillars of Eastern Forests online. But it looks like it's on the wrong host plant! Maybe there's a similar species.

Sphinx Larva- Ceratomia catalpea
Date 8/06/08 found multiple catapillers on a Toby tree in Pittsburgh Pa.

I've never heard that name before
but after browsing the web a little, looks like Toby Tree is a local common name for Catalpa, which is the right host plant for this species.
