Oriental Beetle - dark form -
Anomala orientalis
Oceanside, Nassau County, New York, USA
June 28, 2009
Size: 10 mm +/-
Active and hard to photograph. Placed on the ground and flew off. Maybe a Hoplia or something close? Adjacent to a salt marsh if that matters.

dark form--that's what I think it is, Rich. See other images on Guide under that name. If that is not what it is, I'd like to know, because I don't bother collecting them on the assumption I know what they are.
