Phidippus borealis (Salticidae) - Phidippus borealis - female

Phidippus borealis (Salticidae) - Phidippus borealis - Female
Whitecourt, Alberta, Canada
June 29, 2009
Size: BL = 13mm
Showing the thick, silken chamber a P. borealis female has built to protect her eggs. This one was under some loose bark on a dead aspen tree (not the same individual as in the previous pictures). Her egg sac is directly under her belly. One wall of the chamber, along with the bark, was pulled back to reveal the spider (it was later replaced in its original position).
