This bug is not unidentified
It has been placed in the genus Largus. We do not yet know how to tell the species apart in their nymphal form, but we likely will at some point. Your reference to an Australian bug with a huge embedded image is actually not very helpful. It would be helpful if you clicked on edit on your comment and deleted the embedded image. Thanks

Glossy Shield Bug?
It is very similar to the 2nd instar of a Glossy Shield Bug - Cermatulus nasalis - Family Pentatomidae
Brisbane Insects-Stinkbugs-Glossy Shield Bugs
They have 2 black dots on top, but otherwise, look very similar.
I requested the ID of this same bug in May 2022:
https://bugguide.net/node/view/2117427/
. It was "unidentified" there, as well.

Lacks detail
I can't say this is even a beetle. It could be a bug nymph, and it looks like it might have a bug's proboscis.
