Stem Sawfly - Phylloecus cowichanus

Size: around 20 mm
Found resting/sleeping on my rose bush. On page 542 of Insects Their Natural History and Diversity is an image of Hartigia trimaculata that looks very similar.

Cephidae, Hartigia cowichana Ries
A stem borer of roses. Very nice; not seen very often and quite rare in collections.
