Great Spangled - MN record - Speyeria cybele - male

Great Spangled - MN record - Speyeria cybele - Male
Carlos Avery Wildlife Management Area, Anoka County, Minnesota, USA
July 2, 2009
The darker one (female?) has central spots, but it looks 100 percent Great Spangled to me. We do have Aphrodite in the area, too, so I wish I would have been able to get a photo underneath. Although the Aphrodite all have more defined central spots. All others that I saw (20-30) lacked the central spot.
