This is a close-up of the inside of a small 3 tier nest I removed from in front of a home in San Francisco. I have other images of the nest if anyone is interested.

Not western yellowjacket
These are aerial yellowjackets, Dolichovespula arenaria. I see a male in the center of the image, workers elsewhere.
