Gulf Fritillary Egg - Agraulis incarnata

Gulf Fritillary Egg - Agraulis incarnata
Desoto, Dallas County, Texas, USA
July 3, 2009
I don't think there are any images of Gulf Fritillary eggs in the Guide. I identified this based on the activity on the new hanging basket of Passion Vine I put out (the last brood decimated the vine in my garden and the new butterflies were looking for their old home!) and on images on the internet. Because of the shape of the eggs they almost look like tiny galls on the leaves. (And I just realized that if the FBI ever wanted my fingerprints they'd have to go only as far as BugGuide!)
