Fly 1 - Ozodiceromyia

Fly 1 - Ozodiceromyia
Brighton, Northumberland, Ontario, Canada
July 4, 2009
Size: 1 cm +/-
This fly and the following one I will post spent most of two days just sitting on a small lilac bush. Could they be male and female of the same species? Any help appreciated.

Moved
Moved from Stiletto Flies.

Ozodiceromyia
I can't quite see the frons (which is an easy way to tell these two species apart), but it is either Ozodiceromyia notata or O. argentata. Both are very common in eastern North America.

Moved
Moved from Flies. You are right, they are probably the same species, male and female (latter with with eyes separated).
