There's something growing in there!

There's something growing in there!
Baton Rouge - BREC Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center, East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, USA
July 3, 2009
Size: 3 mm
First found these three eggs yesterday, 7/3/09.
They are are the upper side of a leaf of a plant that usually grows standing in the swamp.
The plant is called Lake hygrophila - hygrophila costata.

It has been very hot (95-100 degF) and dry lately and the plants are not standing in water now.
Because of small size I first thought they might butterfly or moth eggs. I thought I might find caterpillars soon.
But there have been big changes in just one day.
Now it looks like they might hatch octopi :>)

I will be attaching several several more pictures from today, 7/4/09.

Great series!!!
Please take a look through the images of Acanthocephala. I have noticed that most of the nymphs in this genus have the expanded tibial flanges on all legs rather than just the metatibia.

Does seem like acanthocephala
I especially thought the series with this image fit well with mine.

And it was also from Louisiana.
