Yay, Tiger Beetle! - Cicindela punctulata

Right there on my doorstep tonight! I couldn't believe it, but sure enough, there was its distinctive shape. I got off a couple overhead shots like this before it flew a few inches, allowing me to get the other shot. Very exciting!

Very nice clear image at perpendicular dorsal angle
which I prefer for purpose of identification. This one is appropriately named "punctulata" after the string of prominent punctures seen atop elytra.

This one was a surprisingly tolerant subject, with only a little running around, but long pauses where it allowed me to get close. I've never found another tiger beetle that'll do that for me.
