Biting insect

Biting insect
Cle Elum, Kittitas County, Washington, USA
June 27, 2009
Size: less than one millimeter
These small insects were on a friend's white shirt and my white butterfly net. They were'nt on my gray shirt. They were quite small to the naked eye, appearing as tiny specs.
They bite, according to my friend who had them in his shirt.
The photos were taken by me with a Canon MP-E 65mm and Canon Twin Lite MT-24EX flash.

Thrips
and they do bite.

They may be...
thrips...
Seeing the picture and the text in the first link, I think they are thrips (Order thysanoptera http://bugguide.net/node/view/7754)
