Napoleon, Ohio, Henry County, Ohio, USA
July 4, 2009
Size: approx 1.75" long
This 'inset' drew nectar from the blue flowers in the image and moved much like a humingbird (which we thought it was at first). It allowed me to get within 12 inches of it and would simply move to another spot on the plant. Stayed poolside for about 5 to 6 minutes. Late afternoon. Had never seen it before nor have we seen it since. :-( I have other images of this bug if anyone is interested.
