Lady beetle larva - Day 7 - Harmonia axyridis - Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, USA July 1, 2009 Size: 6.9 mm
Third instar, shortly before molt - dorsolateral tubercules on first four abdominal segments orange, with orange "body" color extending almost to central tubercules. Central tubercules on 1st and 4th segments orange with black tips - notice that those on the 4th segment are now 2/3 orange and 1/3 black. Orange body color of 5th segment more extensive.
I apologize for the poor image quality; the larva refused to eat (which would have made it stand still) and the sun never came out. Do not frass, it's the only passable Day 7 image and the series should stay complete.
