Male
of another species, perhaps a Protopiophila.

Keyed
This specimen keys out to Prochyliza brevicornis Melander, 1924 in McAlpine 1977. It also matches the Guelph collection's specimens of this species.

Prochyliza, different sp. ...?
I carefully checked through the collection and ran the genera key in the Manual of Nearctic Diptera. One of my specimens is a Protopiophila, but it is not the above individual, which keys to Prochyliza. Apart from P. xanthostoma, there are four other species in this genus. The collection seems to be quite complete, so I may be able to narrow it down further.
