Small Ant - Camponotus

Small Ant - Camponotus
Great Falls Park, Montgomery County, Maryland, USA
July 9, 2009
Spotted this ant standing still atop a fence in Great Falls Park. When I took this shot, I noticed that light passed through its abdomen rather well, so I took another, which I'll attach for interest.

Myrmentoma
This is something in the subgenus Myrmentoma. Perhaps nearcticus.

Carpenter ant.
I believe this is a carpenter ant, genus Camponotus. Not all of them are giants:-)

Thanks, Eric!
I didn't know that. =)
