Homalodisca vitripennis?!
This sure looks like the Glassy-winged Sharpshooter to me, but good grief this would be an awfully dark specimen! We shall see what Dr. Hamilton has to say...

 
I used flash and still lightened the image a bit.
Animal looked like a black blob. I'd guessed glassy-winged sharpshooter because that was the ID of a juvenile I found maybe eighty feet away.
