Barn Funnel Weaver - Tegenaria domestica

Barn Funnel Weaver - Tegenaria domestica
Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, USA
July 10, 2009
Size: 1/2"
I'm assuming this is a wolf spider, Hogna sp., based on the eye pattern. Anyone able to narrow it to species level based on the rest?

Nice pictures.
Have you got one of the sternum, by any chance? Also, can you describe its web?

Sorry
No pictures of the web, as I found it crawling over my foot doing laundry. I don't know how I could get pictures of the sternum, it was a very quick and active spider, and it's released now.

Thanks
About all I can do is make a guess at the ID of this spider: looks like Tegenaria sp. (Agelenidae) - one of the funnel web spiders. Without examining the actual spider up close and with magnification, that's about as good as one can do from these pictures (as nice as they are).

This one is a male, and it was probably out and about looking for a female.

Yes, they are very fast! I know what you mean. :)

Not A Wolf
Not a wolf spider. Looks more like Agelenidae. Can't get a good view of spinnerets from these photos though.
