This is a "Dirt Dauber" from coastal, southeastern North Carolina and am hopeful to pinpoint the species that live in our area. This species is black, with a blue tint in its wings in the light. It builds a pipe shaped nest from mud. This particular group of mud daubers were building their nests under a barn. One of the nests the dirt daubers have built this year...
