brunniventris is from scientific Latin brunneus- "brown" + Latin venter- "belly"
Range
Coastal states from Washington south to California. Also reported from Nevada
Food
There is one published reference to larvae being found on "Hosackia grandiflora", which is now known as Lotus grandiflorus (in the Pea Family).
