Black bug with white markings - Apiomerus montanus

Black bug with white markings - Apiomerus montanus
Pecos National Historical Park, San Miguel County, New Mexico, USA
July 11, 2009
Size: 6-7 mm?
The flower is Ratibida columnifera, and the habitat is pinyon-juniper. It flew off the flower as my cousin and I were taking pictures, and landed on me. My cousin probably has nice pictures of it on my shirt.

Rhopalidae? It looks like a boxelder bug—but then it looks like a lot of big bugs.
