Trapjaw Ant - Odontomachus

Trapjaw Ant - Odontomachus
Mobile (Dog River), Mobile County, Alabama, USA
July 11, 2009
It has elbowed antennae like and ant but haven't found ant or wasp with mandibles like this. It had just snagged a ting spider from its web. I don't know if it ate the spider or dropped when the paparazzi arrived. Possibly spider killer?

Odontomachus sp. Alate
