Great Spangled Fritillary - Speyeria cybele - female

Great Spangled Fritillary - Speyeria cybele - Female
Kunkletown, Monroe County, Pennsylvania, USA

This one seems to be taking
a round-about path to it's final destination. Thought I'd finish the journey hear.

Moved from Greater Fritillaries.

The darker margin
and dark wing bases are common in females (which this one is).

I agree GS
It doesn't have gray eyes so not Atlantis. It lacks the central forewing spot so it's not Aphrodite. I don't see many with that dark of a margin either. I also learned recently that the spots on the forewing are generally larger on great spangled, too.

looks like great spangled to me
I've looked through my Kaufman field guide and as best I can tell, great spangled looks like the best match
