Telamona monticola
The broadly rounded, high crest bordered with a pale stripe is distinctive for this species. It is a common species on oak.

Do you know the difference?
Between the monticola and the tiliae?

tiliae:

I was wondering if those images arn't both monticola? or both tiliae?

monticola vs. tiliae
Telamona monticola (an oak species) has the crest less strongly angled backwards, so its apex is about a third the distance back.

Telamona tiliae (a basswood species) has the apex of the crest about half way back. It's not so evident in this photo, because the picture is taken from the front, which makes it harder to judge the relative position of the crest.

Hey Andy,
Thanks for the explination, I was pretty curious about that. So for future reference i'll try to get a nice side profile shot on any treehoppers this year.

Thanks again,
Gehan Gehale
