Beetle 07.13.2009 017 - Cyclocephala
Moccasin Lake, Winston, Douglas County, Georgia, USA

Size: 13mm
The beetles of the genus Phyllophaga are very numerous at both the UV and florescent lights. They not only vary in size, but color as well. This particular beetle came to the UV light and exhibited a rich and shiney dark caramel color with darker markings. The elytra has a transluscent appearance.

I'm not really a beetle person, but how can you tell
that this is Phyllophaga and not Cyclocephala?

Thanks v as always for an insight. I agree and I'll move the image to it's proper place. I better stick with the very obvious specimens when trying to determine what or who they are.
