Brown fly with strange antennae

Brown fly with strange antennae
Bear River MBR, Box Elder County, Utah, USA
July 12, 2009
Size: 1/2 inch
This fly has antennae that look like (if you're at all familiar with sewing) seam rippers. Does anyone know what it is. It was sitting on the end of some grass next to a canal.

Marsh Fly
Check Sciomyzidae(1). They are found near water and typically eat snails.

Thanks, John.
I could use some of these in my yard.
