That is not another aphid! Camouflaged predator - Micromus

That is not another aphid! Camouflaged predator - Micromus
Pennypack Restoration Trust, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, USA
July 5, 2009
It was several days after having taken this photo that I noticed this bright red fellow among the aphids, a wolf in sheep clothing, I presume.
I wish I had noticed it that day; I would have tried harder to get a better close up.
Part of this group

Moved tentatively per Dr Oswald's comment

#304669 Identification – Hemerobiidae sp.
ID. Probably Micromus sp.

I bet...
the red is stomach contents. Still a good disguise though!

lacewing larva
It might be brown lacewing larva. I've never see a red one before. What a good disguise!

Thanks
I wonder whether other brightly colored aphids are also predated by equally colorful larvae.

that I don't know
But, it seems to be the year of the red aphid. I ran across patches of them for the first time this year myself. I'll look closely for red colored lacewing larva now! :)
