Size: 5 mm
Came to UV light. I've seen this species often at my lights.

Berosus male
Yes, this is a species of Berosus, and based on the protarsi, it is a male. Most likely candidates are B. sayi and B. infuscatus, but the genus is very difficult to ID, even with specimen in hand.

looks like it
If you still have it look on the underside. At the base of the rear legs there will be BIG plates if its Haliplidae.

Not so sure.
I think this is probably a water scavenger beetle in the family Hydrophilidae, maybe a species of Berosus, several of which superficially resemble haliplids.
