Beetles on Dead RatSnake - Creophilus maxillosus

Beetles on Dead RatSnake - Creophilus maxillosus
Polk County, Tennessee, USA
July 15, 2009
On a herping trip...this dead ratsnake was found, and crawling all over it and IN it, were these two types of beetles.

Although this image shows two different species, I am placing it on the Creophilus maxillosus page, as it seems to be much less commonly photographed than the carrion beetle (and also because this is the first TN record for that species).

American Carrion Beetle?
Not an expert of any kind, but the beetles on the right look quite a lot like Necrophila americana:

Please wait for one of the Coleoptera specialists to confirm!

[EDIT: Well, I would pat myself on the back for tying with =v= on the ID, but in the time it took him to ID them both, I only managed to guess on one! (*smile*)]

Creophilus maxillosus & Necrophila americana
