I thought this was a painted lady but then i compared the eyespots on this to the painted lady and there are not the same number of eyespots; this has 2. See:
I compared it to this. There are also some other spot differences, like the white spots on wings.

American Lady
Try American Lady - American Lady (Vanessa virginiensis). I was confused between the two also.
