Here's one I found around here in KS. They live in groups in rotting trees, and the adults care for their young. Looks like yours is lost from its family. :)

Another random fact...
They click and squeak to communicate with their larvae!

 
beetle sounds
I've picked up a number of longhorns that make squeaking sounds when you handle them. As I recall the wheel bug does it too. I didn't know that these beetles communicated this way. Very interesting.
