A Different Click Beetle - Conoderus

A Different Click Beetle - Conoderus
Irvine, Orange County, California, USA
July 16, 2009
Size: ~8mm
Came to light at night. At first I thought this was another one of the Conoderus beetles I see here every night. However it's smaller, about 2/3 of the size, and has a different pattern. In particular notice the red blotches on the back. Could be a different member of the same genus, a different genus, a different gender, or something else.
