bathtub beetle - Calosoma scrutator

bathtub beetle - Calosoma scrutator
Sapulpa, Creek County, Oklahoma, USA
July 16, 2009
Size: ~1.75"
Found this in our upstairs bathtub. Freaked our tenant out, but since it resembles curculio (Master & Commander fame) and since I don't like playing god, I captured it for further research.

Moved
Moved from Beetles.
Yours will add July for Oklahoma on Bug Guide.

I noticed earlier today it had landed in 'Beetles', but my granddaughter called me away from the computer.

Carabidae -
Calosoma?

They are colorful!
