Syrphid Fly - Epistrophe grossulariae - female

Syrphid Fly - Epistrophe grossulariae - Female
Lancaster, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA
September 4, 2005
Size: about 9mm

Female Epistrophe, probably E. grossulariae!
It remembers me of the female of the European E. grossulariae.
And... it also occurs in the Nearctic! So I think this is a female Epistrophe grossulariae!
Greetings,
Gerard Pennards

Epistrophe grossulariae
I knew this was a little different from the others, but thanks to you, it's named to species.

Syrphini
It belongs to the tribe Syrphini. See here. I hope that you get lucky and that somebody can ID it further; apparently it isn't easy.
