#30654 Identification -- Scotoleon longipalpis
This is the antlion Scotoleon longipalpis (Hagen, 1888). The extremely long labial palps of this species are quite distinctive (found in very few other species).

Ideas on a Texas antlion?
Dr. Oswald, do you have any ideas on this one from Texas:

A Brachynemeurus, or a Scotoleon?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Antlion
Really fine Antlion facial portrait. There are two whole tribes of these that occur only in the west. I have never seen one in the east with such a pale thorax.

Antlion adult.
Thanks again for posting these over from the Fred Miranda forum. This is a nice portrait of an antlion of some kind, family Myrmeleontidae, order Neuroptera.

Thanks Again
This is an awesome site , Great Job

Question
is that crazy pattern on the eye natural or a result of the flash?

Flash I think
I think it was the flash . I should have taken more of them . I only took pictures of them inbewteen the other cooler looking bugs.
