Spotted Tussock Moth - Lophocampa maculata

Spotted Tussock Moth - Lophocampa maculata
Pack Forest, near Eatonville, Pierce County, Washington, USA
July 10, 2009
Not the best photo, but nobody else has posted one for the Pack Forest gathering. (I'll trash this one if a better one shows up.)

Search for insect photos from the 2009 BugGuide Gathering (gathering_2009).

Hi Patrick, A little image
Hi Patrick,

It's not such a bad image, is it? A little image sharpening would help here quite a bit, I think.

Why am I commenting on moths? Good question -- I got lost in ID Request, I think. :-)

another version posted
It has already been sharpened a bit, but I have posted another version with more aggressive sharpening, though I am not real fond of that look. As I said, I just posted it for the record--I did not see that anyone else had posted one for Pack Forest. (The sheet was waving in the breeze--I believe that is what caused the focus to be off.)

I did mark it "non-representative" so it will not show up in most views.

I got one too, Patrick
I've just been waiting for John, you, Lynette, etc. to post all your moths, and if I had some additionals, I'd put them up. :) Besides your Lophocampa pic is better than mine anyway. Mine was up on a wall and hard to get a pic of. :(
