Question: Halloween Pennant - Celithemis eponina - Male
Bartlesville, Washington County, Oklahoma, USA
July 20, 2009
I know this is a Halloween Pennant male, but I don't know why it went into this position. Is it some sort of mating display? Any ideas?

thermoregulation
This is called the obelisk position. It is a method of reducing the amount of surface area that is exposed to direct sunlight it order to prevent overheating.

Hooray!
