Red Winged Tiger Moth? - Empyreuma pugione

Red Winged Tiger Moth? - Empyreuma pugione
Boca Raton, West Palm Beach County, Florida, USA
August 2, 2005
Size: about 2 inches long
I think this is may be a type of Tiger Moth, perhaps some sort of Cosmosoma or Oleander variety. Found it on the wall of my house just after sunrise and it was gone that evening when I returned home from work. Looks like it partied hard the night before and was sleeping off a nectar hangover. :)

This is the first adult we have pictured on the site.

Hodges 8272-Spotted Oleander caterpillar moth.
