Small Gray Mantid

Small Gray Mantid
Just W. of Prosser, Benton County, Washington, USA
July 21, 2009
Size: 2 inches long
We've always referred to these guys as our "native mantids", as opposed to the big green guys they sell at the farm stores (I'm not sure if they're truly a native or not). They've been MIA out on the farm for over a decade, but they are present out at our new home close to the sagebrush, only 1 mile away. This one came to the porchlight last night.

MInor ground mantis, male.
Nice shot of a male Litaneutria minor.

Cool!
Thanks Eric - I really like these guys - they're very spunky. It's nice to have a name for them.
