Dragonfly? - Plathemis lydia

Dragonfly? - Plathemis lydia
Silverton, Marion County, Oregon, USA
July 26, 2009
Size: 2 1/2 - 3 inches
Dragonfly was hanging on a bush in early morning. When it would fly off it never went far but came back to the same spot repeatedly. I do not have a zoom on my camera so I'm hoping this is good enough to get an ID. Thanks for any help.

bug people
soon you'll be hooked!

I'm already hooked...
I did not realize how much life was crawling, creeping and scurrying around. Who knew that a fly could be beautiful? It is a blast seeing what goes unseen! Thanks again for your help. Kimberly

A Month
I took this up a month ago. I am a HS teacher and am building a website...for my students
Herehave 80 unique specimens now.

I have a lot of things to learn...and the people on Bugguide are such a great resource

Website
The website you are creating for your students is terrific. Is David Douglas in Portland, OR? I agree this is an amazing website. We did not have any resources like this when I was in school! Kimberly
