Mantis eating a fly

Mantis eating a fly
JACKSON, Amador County, California, USA
September 28, 2004
I just thought I would share this shot I took a couple years ago. I shot this with my 100mm macro hand held at midnight, using porch light. I just love praying mantis and have a couple of shots of them hatching as well. With this shot, I actually was tired of waiting for him to get to the fly that was sleeping so I moved the mantis closer to the fly and in a split second he grabbed the fly and devoured him. the fly squirmed like crazy and I felt bad but it was going to happen anyway.

date?
Eleanor, is there any chance you could put an approximate date? Maybe month and year if nothing else?

Good shot, but...
linking is for different views of the same individual or group.

I unlinked this one from the others- it's good enough to stand on its own.

Ok thanks.
