Pink and tiny - Amalopota uhleri

Pink and tiny - Amalopota uhleri
Harms Woods Forest Preserve, Glenview, Cook County, Illinois, USA
September 4, 2005
Size: ~7mm
We first thought it was a micromoth but it seemed hardly to have enough abdomen. Then we thought it might be an aphid but it didn't look like one. So we decided we're clueless! We were walking in an oak woodland atop a 10,000 year old moraine along the Chicago River in an area dominated by Solidago ulmifolia.
