i have no clue what this is..some say it's a praying mantis..but it's not..could you please tell me what it's proper name is..

True katydid.
Nice image of a female "true katydid," Pterophylla camellifolia. They are usually in the very tops of tall trees, where the males sing the loud and raspy "katy-did, katy-didn't" song at night. I can tell this is a female by her knife-like egg-laying organ (ovipositor), and lack of modified front wings. Males have a brown "shoulder patch" that is modified for sound production.
