I'm uncertain, but also think it's a Mydas fly.
However, I've mucked up at least one ID of these and am now more cautions. You may want to move your post to Flies for more expert attention, as =v= has been suggesting. Also, have you seen this article? http://bugguide.net/node/view/298899

 
Actually, no
I had not read that article. I can start submitting directly to the higher orders for most photos if that is preferred; I can probably get that much right most of the time.
