stripetail scorpion - Vaejovis spinigerus

stripetail scorpion - Vaejovis spinigerus
Sells, Pima County, Arizona, USA
August 27, 2005
Size: 1 inch
Found on the Tohono O'Odaham Indian Reservation

Vaejovis spinigerus
Family Vaejovidae, Vaejovis spinigerus (Wood, 1863).
Common name: stripetail scorpion.
Sex: Female.
Distribution: southern/southwestern 2/3 of Arizona, into New Mexico and barely into SE California. Into Mexico.

Great photo! Shows the spines for which it is named! Look at the tail segments, especially the second and third, and notice the "spines" at the ends of the granular rows (carinae, keels).

Thanks
I was begining to wonder if this one was going to be ID'ed. Thanks,

I have no clue,
but you can view comparison photos here. Giant Hairy Scorpion is about half way down the page listed as Hadrurus arizonensis.
