I believe that this is the egg case of the Carolina mantis. Can someone confirm this? – Thanks

Stagmomantis Carolina egg case
most likely Stagmomantis Carolina.

The ootheca (mantis egg case) for Stagmomantis Limbata, Californica, and floridensis are somewhat similar but not commonly found in Virginia.
