yes, Trachyderes mandibularis
They were abundant around our area (south central TX) last year and scarce this drought stricken year. Nice photo!

They love fermenting fruit!
Figs, bananas, etc. attract these and many other cool insects! Put out some bait and enjoy!

Thanks Maury, i actually had a fermenting banana very close to where this beetle was. But she seemed more interested in feeling around with her antenna on a certain branch in the brush pile.
