Fly
47.63056N 52.68757W (WGS84), Logy Bay, Northeast Avalon, Newfoundland/Labrador, Canada
August 3, 2009
Size: 9mm body only
This was on the retaining wall next to our driveway. It was chilly outside (abt 16°C) so this 'bug' was not very active. Few other bugs of any type were around to be seen.

Wow, 9mm ?
I had no idea that Aphids could get that large. This had a 9mm body (plus the wings extended beyond that). It doesn't give a size in the identification section of the guide page but I always thought they were musch smaller. I'm adding another image of the rear to show what I guess is one of the cornicles. Is that correct?

alate aphid; beautiful series!
