Not sure if this is a European Mantis or a Chinese Mantis. All the photos of the Chinese Mantis are not solid green.

Mantis.
I have collected solid green Chinese mantids in Cincinnati, and if I recall, they were females, and absolutely HUGE. If this one exceeded about five inches, I'd say she is a Chinese mantis.

Do you have any more shots of this mantis?

The other shots I have of this guy is a female Chinese Mantis eating it. He walked right up behind her and did not see her. She saw him, caught him and then ate him.

Do you have a shot of the side of the mantis?

I do believe this is another chinese mantis. If you look at the side shot you can see that along the wing edge is a lighter shade of green. As chinese mantids are known for this green stripe, unless my eyes decieve me or I am missing some other clue I would say chinese. Most chinese don't fully hit 5 inches. If you had several over that I'd say you were lucky, wish I had found those.

Hey Chris,
Here is a side shot. Let me know what you think.

Well....
I am not sure what species of mantis this is. If any of your other shots shows the area between the front legs look and see if the are black markings between the front legs. If so, it probably is the European mantid.

Thanks Chris

oh wow-all my female Chinese Mantises but one are all solid green and HUGE! One is brown with some green-but she's huge too. The male I have here are much smaller and skinnier. I just took a bunch more photos-I'll get them up on my site and try to figure out how to get them in the right place here.
