Feeding on spider. - Stenolemus lanipes

Feeding on spider. - Stenolemus lanipes
Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee, USA
August 1, 2009
I have every developmental stage of Stenolemus lanipes creeping about the back wall. I had noticed that even the smallest sought out spider webs, but I never saw any scavenging. Just out of frame in this shot, there is an immature that I had seen under this large spider's web. It seemed a precarious position. Checking back, I discovered this adult had successfully captured and killed the web owner. Last night, I saw another adult, seemingly twanging a sparse web, and it appeared that he was trying to draw forth a spider. It's been interesting to watch.

Awesome.
Outstanding image, and nice of you to share your observations as well. Little is known about these insects.

I have a lot more images
but I'm only posting ones that might add to understanding behavior. My favorite non-post so far is an immature starting to step onto the back of a resting Looper moth about ten tmes his size. It changed its mind after feeling about a bit.
